Pleasant View Cottages and Camps offers a lakeside vacation experience with boat rentals, a pool, and mini-golf. Recent reviews highlight the friendly staff and clean cabins, but a significant negative experience involving cleanliness, billing issues, and lack of amenities has emerged. Value is questionable given the condition of some units.
I had a great stay here! The owner is very nice and offered help for anything if I needed it. The cottage I stayed in was clean and I also rented a fishing boat for the week. The boat ran excellent and everything on board operated as it should. Would definitely recommend!
Love this place for week long vacations . One with our grandchildren and ine with the guys. Owner Nate and dock master jason are very quick at taking care of your needs. Grounds are very neat with an inground swimming pool available during the swim season..miniature golf abd ice cream stand on site to help keep the kids happy. Cabins are clean and in very good condition with almost each cabin wuth a view of black lake pontoon boats available for rent, or bring your own.
WHERE TO BEGIN? I made my reservation in November 2022 for my September 2023 vacation. I paid half 'up front' and the other required half in February 2023. I specifically requested a cabin close to the water with an enclosed porch with a table, lighting, and an outlet so I could quilt and was assured that cabin 5 would fit my needs. I arrrived for my vacation. The teenager at check-ininsisted I owed $$ even when I should her my "paid in full" receipt. She acted like I was trying to "pull one over"! After a phone call, she was instructed to give my my key. I inquired about the pool hours and was told the pool was closed for the season-September1st! I expressed that I had planned on swimming daily and they would need to OPEN trhe POOL. She was not pleasant My cabin was NOT fit for even a homeless person. It was dirty. The curtains were rotten and disintegrating on the rods. The box spring had a huge hole in it and I was worried that something might be living in there. The double bed was the same size as the room and was impossible to put sheets on. I had to bring my own everything!-toilet paper, sheets, towels, pillows, paper towel, trash bags, dish soap, etc...... The coffee pot was filthy - black and green with mold and most of the kitchen utensil were a hodge podge of dirty items. The shower had a trickle of water and the next morning---NO Water. I called the manager. I told him I wanted a refund so I could go find a descent place to stay. He said he could not refund me anything, because they had recently bought the facility and my $$ had gone to the previous owner. He offerd me another cabin that he had purchased down the road. I threw everything in my car and moved. This was a much nicer cabin, BUT the daily temp was between 95 and 98 degrees and there was NO AIR CONDITIONING! Also- no TV. When the smoke alarm went off over my head at 1am- I called it quits and left along with a note requesteng a refund. No response!!! Shame on these people for even attempting to run a business!!
We stayed in the Log Cabin for a couple of nights. Pros: As stated it's more private than the other places on the property so sitting by the fire or eating at the picnic table was enjoyable and has a great view of the lake. The beds were super comfortable. We rented the Bass Boat and took full advantage of it for the two days we stayed. Definitely a plus having the boats on site for rental. Cons: The inside looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1970's. It was fine for our needs but it would be nice to see some modern touches and maybe a little less paneling, stained couches and worn carpeting. I would stay on the property again but maybe choose one of the more modern cottages.
Plenty to do there swimming put put golf and a wonderful ice cream stand. Lake can get rough at times. Good lake to use live bait. Artificial lure not a lot of luck with bass. Crappie and Blue gill are good catches with live bait.
We had a wonderful vacation here in August of 2019. The cabins were clean, staff was friendly and they are pet friendly which is HUGE for us. The pool and mini golf were also fun! Only thing they need is a playground! There were very affordable in comparison to other lake cabin rentals. We would definitely visit again!
