Singer Castle offers a unique glimpse into a privately-owned, historically significant castle on a beautiful island, with tours available daily. Guests consistently praise the castle’s architecture, history, and the engaging guides, though some mention tours can feel rushed, particularly on holidays. It's a popular alternative to Boldt Castle and offers the option of an overnight stay.
Singer castle is definitely worth a look see but it's a shame to see it falling into disrepair and not being cared for like it used to be in the past. lots of dirt lots of cob webs. It's not getting the attention it deserves. The history is very interesting and the two castle tour is a nice tour on Sam's. This is a guided tour. You cannot go off on your own and you cannot bring anything except a bottle with the cap water to the grounds. There are. Also restrooms and a small gift shop on the grounds. It's cool to see all the special secret passageways woven into the castle.
We experienced the overnight stay. Other than the caretaker, the castle is all yours to explore. The dinner was excellent and although the cost is expensive ($1k), it is well worth the experience and memories. You receive a private tour of the castle which is very long. If we were to do it again, I would recommend staying two nights. You have the castle to yourself from evening to early morning. The views are unbelievable. In addition, I would recommend fall versus summer. It was over 90 degrees with no wind or a/c.
We had a great guided tour of Singer Castle last weekend. Marion was our very knowledgeable guide and she was great! This is a beautiful castle and grounds. We took Uncle Sam's to the island and overall it was an A+ experience!
Did the 2-castle tour and saw Boldt Castle before this. Crazy that this is the only "castle" in the area that was 100% completed and lived in. And has been privately owned and lived in since the day it was built. I am SO jealous of the caretaker, what I wouldn't give to live in a castle and have the run of all the secret passages, and just get to be a weird hermit all by myself. Much less crowded than Boldt Castle, as it is almost an hour downriver. Must take a guided tour, but they're quick and information and generally lovely people. No customs like at Boldt, even though this one is also in the US. Definitely recommended, if you see one castle, you have to see them both.
Cool island castle. There is a one hour paid tour that takes you through the main parts of the battle and gives you its history abs a glimpse into the life of the family that owned it. The castle is also absorbed for weddings and overnight stays.
Viewing this castle requires being part of a tour. There are a lot of stairs and it's very fast paced. Tour guide was informative and the castle was stunning with unique history. Uncle Sam's boat tours out of Alex. Bay does a great tour to the island.
seeing these magnificent timeless masterpieces never gets boring! Viewing from a distance and as you get closer the size and impact really starts to become clear. So close to the border, you practically need both passports!
Singer Castle, in my opinion, is a must see. The story behind it is inspiring in more ways than one. You can almost feel the presence of party goers from long ago, moving throughout the grounds. The architecture is amazing, the views are unmatched, and the sense of peace while I was there was incredible. The tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly, with some of their stories bringing me a step closer to the people who had lived there. The sense of the property being lived on and enjoyed was palpable for me. There are a lot of sights to see up in this region and more than one castle tour (did those as well). If I had to choose only one tour, Singer Castle would be it. I may even go back and book an overnight stay at Singer as well.
My daughter's wedding was held at Singer Castle! The Castle was absolutely stunning, it was the perfect venue! Everyone there was wonderful and made sure it was the perfect day! Giggly recommend!
This was our second trip to Singer! There is no doubt this is a beautiful castle! Our family prefers this to Boldt given the history and the fact it was actually lived in. The guided tour approach that Singer takes is also nice and very informative. We did notice that our tour this time around seemed rushed and skipped over some of the most interesting parts of the castle (for example there is a hidden passage in the library which was not even mentioned this time around and our kids were sad about that). It could have been that it was on a holiday (and we realized at the end, the last tour of the day), but was a little disappointing for us...if this was only 1st and only time visiting we probably would have thought nothing of it, but because we have that previous tour it just didn't live up to that. Absolutely still a beautiful, wonderful place to visit...just make sure you aren't going on the final tour on a holiday! :)
